Sunny 16

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I wonder if kids these days know what the “Sunny 16″ rule is. If you came from film them no doubt you would know or at very least heard of it.

Basically this is the “Sunny 16″ table (if I remember correctly)

Beach/Snow – f/22 @ ISO 100, 1/100
Sunny – f/16 @ ISO 100, 1/100
Cloudy – f/11 @ ISO 100, 1/100
Overcast f/8 @ ISO 100, 1/100
Heavy Overcase f/5.6 @ ISO 100, 1/100
Late Sunset f/4 @ ISO 100, 1/100

How does it help? Well it will provide you with a base to start with when you’re outside doing location off camera flash work. Of course you should still meter and adjust to suit settings/taste/sensors :)

I’ve been featured on Phottix’s “Photog-Friday” section.

Most photographers would have probably heard of the brand Phottix. They are based in asia and make a lot of photographic accessories such as wireless remotes, PocketWizard compatible remote flash triggers, battery packs, flash/studio accessories and more!

Superstar Marta!

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Most would remember the fabulous Marta whom I shot with before she headed off to the UK. She’s featured in Super Star Magazine along with a few photos we took.

New machine!

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Yes finally… I have a new editing machine. All this time I’ve been editing on a 2 year old laptop with 2gb ram and using the trackpad! From one extreme to the next, is an Intel i5 machine, 8gb ram, 1gb video card powering a 30″ Dell running at 2560×1600 resolution. Now to find space to put it.

Lightroom is so much better with that much real estate on the screen!

Moo cards.

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

About a week ago my Moo cards arrived. What makes these unique is that you can have a different photo on the back of each card! What I did was order the 50 and did 5×10 different photos. The cards aren’t cheap but the quality of the cards and the different photos on the back means it would more likely to be a memorable card than the plain white ones. You can create your own cards at www.moo.com

One step closer…. Mola Setti

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Bought a Mola Setti from Hawaii for a great price. Then I realised how the hell I’m going to get it back to Sydney economically?! Luckily Mic Cullen (thanks Mic) had a mate (thanks Steve) who just landed in Hawaii and was willing to bring it back to Melbourne for me. Here it is… sitting in Mic’s lounge room inside a SKB road case. Boy it’s big. Now to get it from Melbourne to Sydney.
