Well as good as the Elinchrom Ranger RX is, the sync port is a proprietry sync port. Sure the unit came with a 5m pc-sync to elinchrom cable but I have wireless flash triggers (YongNuo RF-602) and being corded to the power pack is not ideal or fun. I cut the last few inches off the included sync cable and put on a 1/4″ (6.35mm) socket to take my triggers. I do have the Skyport RX’s but the Skyport and charger share the same port so if it’s on charge (shooting indoors) then I’d need to use the sync port which is where this cable comes in handy. Paying $70 odd for this same cable from Elinchrom didn’t appeal much to me, especially when the 1/4″ socket was $1.65 from Jaycar.
Yes, lack of shoots lately
Was meant to have one last weekend but that got cancelled and it’s Chinese New Year this weekend so no shooting for me this weekend either. I guess it gives me time to prepare & gather props for a themed shoot I want to do. Just need to find the right model for it. If the weather holds up then perhaps a sunset shoot next week.
Hope everyone else is shooting.
Oh and for the Brisbane guys, check out http://workshop.xploit3d.com March 6/7th!
Here’s a random photo of home made lasagna to make the post a bit more interesting
What a weekend, had the workshop on Saturday and we initially ran in to a few hiccups but in the end it all worked out. More tiring than what you’d imagine, talking all the time and walking around.
Over the workshop weekend, we had a Bowens Explorer 1500 head & pack system alongside our usual gear for people to play with. Wow this unit pumps out a serious amount of light. 1500 Joules/wattseconds of power and the pop it gave is music to your ears, just ashame once we took it on location for a workout it only managed a measely 180 pops at 700J before giving up.
Saturday night went for a few drinks but ended up I consumed more than what I initially thought I had…. happens all the time it seems LOL.
Sunday up nice and early to shoot the lovely Katrina, who’s a FHM Top 10 “Girl Next Door.”
If you have a few moments spare, perhaps you can vote for her
So yesterday I was shooting the wonderful Sarah Knott and was lucky enough to have Jason Cole there watching over the shoot
Was a very fun day and I walked away with a mind full of new stuff LOL… anyway here’s the photos.
Many times I’ve found my iPhone getting low on battery out on a location shoot. With no real power available I went looking for an iPhone charger that takes AA batteries. I have plenty of AA batteries so that was the reason for an AA power source. I ran the iPhone down past 20% and with the eneloop battery about 2 weeks old it’s brought charge to past 78%. Build quality is ok, nothing to tell the world about but it’s not too thin and nasty. Pretty dam good for under AUD$5 delivered!
You can find the charger here.
Some recent promo flyers/posters using images I shot for Pulsar/Suae. Looks so different compared to a white/black backdrop!
Planned for a sunset beach shoot yesterday with Sarah but in the end it was postponed (again) due to the weather. As she already had her makeup and hair done we decided to shoot indoors (Thanks Dave!). Mad scramble to get it together but I think we got there in the end. I’ve put up some images straight off the camera for now.
Hell Crab City is a Sydney band. Great video. I guess it helps when one of the band members does video editing day-in, day-out.
