Over the weekend Dave and I went up to Brissy to host a workshop. We took with us Glen (Make up artist), Rachel and Rebecca.
Stayed at Evolution Apartments at first they couldn’t find it, then wanted to give us 2 x 1 bedroom apartments and THEN they thought we were only booked for the ONE night…..errrr. Besides that the view was nice.
Up at 7am on Saturday and we didn’t finish until 7.30pm. Then we drove around the city lost for a bit before finding Eagle St and Jade Buddah, where we had dinner.
Next morning up at 6.30am to get to the airport for the flight back to Sydney. Video and some photos of what people captured will follow soon. Thanks to all those who attended.
This looks like it will be a promising site for Canon users to get the most out of their Canon flashes either on/off camera, E-TTL, HSS and more. If those accronyms don’t mean anything to you then check out this site, especially the how-to section.
So I finally organised a time to shoot with Jaime which was last Saturday, ran behind schedule and to cut a long story short we ended up shooting at dusk.

Well as good as the Elinchrom Ranger RX is, the sync port is a proprietry sync port. Sure the unit came with a 5m pc-sync to elinchrom cable but I have wireless flash triggers (YongNuo RF-602) and being corded to the power pack is not ideal or fun. I cut the last few inches off the included sync cable and put on a 1/4″ (6.35mm) socket to take my triggers. I do have the Skyport RX’s but the Skyport and charger share the same port so if it’s on charge (shooting indoors) then I’d need to use the sync port which is where this cable comes in handy. Paying $70 odd for this same cable from Elinchrom didn’t appeal much to me, especially when the 1/4″ socket was $1.65 from Jaycar.
So I got my new lights on Friday night and there’s not better way to test them out then with my neice. We tried to put her in a basket but she didn’t like it much and cried so we ended up just sitting her on a blanket instead. We smeared some baby safe chocolate mousse on her face and let her go wild trying to eat the chocolate easter egg. It was a warm day so the egg was really soft already.
Shame we kept forgetting to take footage. Anyway, enjoy
