Review: Phottix Atlas

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

I received a few Phottix Atlas wireless flash triggers to play with and only recently was able to use them on a shoot. These triggers from Phottix are compatible with Pocketwizards Plus II triggers and anyone who is semi-serious will know Pocketwizard is known for it’s reliability and performance.

It seems Phottix built the Atlas to compete directly with the PW Plus II’s and it seems like they have really comeup with an awesome product. They button layout and everything is relatively the same as the Plus II’s with slightly better build quality to boot!

So I left my Sony NEX-5 at home and had to make do with the iphone 4′s video capabilities. Still came out alright though… kinda…

Shoot: Chloe Maxwell

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Got the chance to work with Chloe Maxwell again on a beach shoot. 11am high tide and sunny. Awesome! We had a fierce wind machine all day but we tried to make the best of it. Thanks to everyone involved for making it a great shoot. Left my Sony NEX-5 at home so had to use the iphone4 to do all the video work :p

Was also my first time out with the Phottix Atlas triggers. Had no problems with them and will be throwing up a review soon. :)

Trip: Snow

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Wow what a weekend!?! Dave and myself took 2 girls and 4 photog’s down to the snowy mountains in a mini-bus. Took us about 7hrs drive where we stayed in a nicely renovated barn. I didn’t actually shoot much, let the other guys have a go instead.

We got there friday night and immediately unloaded the cargo, proceeded to setup and do some quick shooting infront of the fireplace before having snags for dinner. After dinner we had a few drinks and some one decided to take a big swig from the bottle of  Hennessy Cognac *cough* Ally *cough*.

Shoot: Snow Preview

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

So we drove like 7hrs today from Sydney to the snow. Living in a renovated farm barn and we couldn’t resist the fireplace. Had to use a very long shutter speed, 1/3s handheld. Yes I’m pretty steady holding the 1Ds2.

A few weeks back I shot these for a photo comp. It had to be a German twist and include either Leica, Manfrotto or Kata.

I’ve posted them now as the comp has closed :)
