Bubble Lounge Shoot

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Last Thursday night I ventured out to the city at 6pm and shot some promo images for the new weekly event Bubble Lounge with model Tetchie. The club was available just to us for the shoot which was great. There were 3 VIP rooms and we shot in all of them as well as in the DJ booth. I brought the boom stand with me and it came in handy being able to place the light in a lot more places than a convential lightstand would allow.

Didn’t start shooting until about 8pm and we managed to wrap it up about 3.5hrs later. Unfortunately I can’t post many of the shots yet as they are to be used for the club’s promo flyers but I’ve included a couple behind the scene snaps which my assistant (JW) took.

Post processing revealed.

Jason Cole (aka Mr Mentor) has put up two videos of how he post processes his images. If you shoot glamour you’d be silly not to watch the videos. Maybe even go back over some old photos afterwards eh? :)

Part 1.

Part 2.

EDIT: ok it seems the vids are removed which is ashame. You can find Jason’s other youtube videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/JCPDVD

Another workshop done.

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Yesterday we had 12 budding photographers come through the Sydney workshop. It was great to see the enthusiasm the guys had, we spent more time discussing things than shooting on occasions! Next one should be Sydney again but with a twist, outdoor location shooting. Then looks like we’ll be hitting up Gold Coast after that. Very successful day, thanks to those who came and big thanks to the girls Rachel and Sarah and also to Glen the makeup artist… and of course DR :)

Melbourne Workshop

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Over the weekend Dave, Glen (MUA), Bec and Rachel went down to Melb to run a workshop. Was great fun and it’s suprising how tired you get from running a workshop. Afterwards we went to Lygon St for some food ended up with some homemade Spaghetti Marinara and a few drinks at the hotel bar (Grand Hyatt). Hook turns are weird but besides that wouldn’t mind going down to Melbourne again for a holiday.

A few photos of the setup and then the result :)

Perth Teaser Photo

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Quick photo from the Perth trip, still have a lot of photos to go through. Once again thanks goes out to BrodieButler.com, A.J. Carter from SmoothMotion Films, the MUA’s, assistants and most importantly the girls for making it a worth the 5hr flight LOL. Hope to come back one day.

Perth shoot

Monday, March 29th, 2010

I’m writing this trip from my iPhone and will just add to this post to keep it all rolled in to one. On the plane right now (Virgin flight DJ565) and it’s quite boring flying solo. All I’ve been doing is listening to my iPhone and realizing I need more songs lol. Atleast these EarPollution CS40 headphones are comfortable. My check in luggage was like 5kg over allowance (23kg) so had to pay $50 grrrr. I need some lighter stands. Aiming for the toilet bowl when going through turbulance is probably the highlight of my flight. 5hr flight and I’m still in Australia faaaaark.
——————–
Arrived safe and sound in Perth domestic airport where BrodieButler.com and his evil twin Jay picked me up. Next we headed to Lackers Grill in Northbridge for a late dinner and to meet the team for the weekend.
——————–
Woke up 5.30am on Saturday (8.30am Sydney time) and tried to get more sleep but couldn’t. Got out of bed at 7am waiting to be picked up, heading to the marina where the tiny 82ft sunseeker was moored. Was overcast and windy, the overcast didn’t worry me but the wind made it quite difficult and at times scary. The boat was amaaaaaaaazing.
——————–
Boat shoot finished, now at Sheraton to do some shots in the Executive Suite. Finish ETA is 11pm….. another RedBull please. ;) Good luck Webber!
——————–
Went to bed at 12.30 last night, now on location at the waterfall. Pretty cool spot. Should get some awesome shots.
——————–
Awesome shoot at the waterfall. Now to freshen up, head to The Avenue for a few drinks before flying back to Sydney at 12pm Perth time.

6:48am Sydney time… we have landed, off to work :)

Weekend report

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

What a weekend, had the workshop on Saturday and we initially ran in to a few hiccups but in the end it all worked out. More tiring than what you’d imagine, talking all the time and walking around.

Over the workshop weekend, we had a Bowens Explorer 1500 head & pack system alongside our usual gear for people to play with. Wow this unit pumps out a serious amount of light. 1500 Joules/wattseconds of power and the pop it gave is music to your ears, just ashame once we took it on location for a workout it only managed a measely 180 pops at 700J before giving up.

Saturday night went for a few drinks but ended up I consumed more than what I initially thought I had…. happens all the time it seems LOL.

Sunday up nice and early to shoot the lovely Katrina, who’s a FHM Top 10 “Girl Next Door.”
If you have a few moments spare, perhaps you can vote for her ;)

Sarah indoors, edited.
