Danah & Amanda

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Last Sunday after helping Dave shoot his fashion swimwear shot. I shot Amanda for a photocomp (photos after the comp) and afterwards with nothing to do we decided to throw 2 girls in the shower and see what we came up with. Steamy action :) Video to come later on ;)

Sydney Workshop Video

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Finally Dave has finished cutting up the video for the last Location workshop in Sydney. Gold Coast is next so if you want to be kept informed on the Goldy workshop (or future ones; just state your location), email me – ed@edwardhor.com

Workshop done.

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

On Saturday Dave and myself ran a workshop based on location shooting with the models being Ally & Rebecca. The trek to the location was somewhat muddy but we did find a cool burnt down car to shoot on and the graffiti barracks were cool too. Luckily the rain held off and we even got nice warm sun for the afternoon session. Kudos to Ally & Bec for seriously pulling all stops to brave the cold. Troopers.

Where next? Maybe Gold Coast. If you want to be kept informed please email me :)

Iron Chef Sydney

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Sunday night, what to do for dinner. How about dining to the food from Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi and Iron Chef French Hiroyuki Sakai at the Hilton. The night started off with Canapes by the Iron Chefs with some sushi by Sushi Samurai in the foyer area.

Then the main doors opened with the beat of Taiko’s (Japanese drums). An intimate dinner it was not, entertaining; yes. A 6 course degustation was to be the culinary delight.

Caution!

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

There’s this abandoned warehouse I’ve been eyeing for months and finally on Sunday I was able to shoot there. Suprisingly the frontdoor was wide open but the path to the entrance was over-run with shrubs. Once we got in it was pretty amazing. Nice wide open space, glass everywhere from the windows and graffiti on every wall. The factory suffered a fire awhile back and has been empty since then.

Parts of the office upstairs even had time cards littered on the floor and charcoaled bits of timber lined the concrete stairs leading up there. Will definately go back again to shoot as there is room for a car in there. Shot with Elinchrom Ranger RX AS Speed with 2 lights and the 4m extension cable.

Bubble Lounge Shoot

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Last Thursday night I ventured out to the city at 6pm and shot some promo images for the new weekly event Bubble Lounge with model Tetchie. The club was available just to us for the shoot which was great. There were 3 VIP rooms and we shot in all of them as well as in the DJ booth. I brought the boom stand with me and it came in handy being able to place the light in a lot more places than a convential lightstand would allow.

Didn’t start shooting until about 8pm and we managed to wrap it up about 3.5hrs later. Unfortunately I can’t post many of the shots yet as they are to be used for the club’s promo flyers but I’ve included a couple behind the scene snaps which my assistant (JW) took.

Location shooting….

Yes… what you’ve all been asking for :)
Register before it’s too late!

Another workshop done.

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Yesterday we had 12 budding photographers come through the Sydney workshop. It was great to see the enthusiasm the guys had, we spent more time discussing things than shooting on occasions! Next one should be Sydney again but with a twist, outdoor location shooting. Then looks like we’ll be hitting up Gold Coast after that. Very successful day, thanks to those who came and big thanks to the girls Rachel and Sarah and also to Glen the makeup artist… and of course DR :)

RAFW – Sunday – The Marking

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Sunday afternoon; the day before RAFW officially kicks off; is when photog’s and camera crew get together for the inaugural “Marking”. It’s where everyone is in a mad trance to politely push and shove each other so you can mark your territory on the riser at the end of the runway for the entire week. If you’re lucky, you might get to see some biff but it was a very conservative year this time.

Spots are marked, cameras packed, batteries charged, lexar pro cards emptied. Time to get some rest for fashion week.

Bec & Guy’s Wedding

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Shot Bec and Guy’s wedding on Saturday with Dave Reid for a few hours. Covered the ceremony followed by some posed shots and a few candids. It was held at Garden Island and the view from the building top was awesome, a 360 degree view of Sydney and the harbour! Bec was extremely scared of heights but still made the hike up there, had to work quick as we could clearly see she was very uncomfortable up there. Next shot was closer to the ground where we managed to find a nice old tree to shoot under.
